As I scroll through social media I get so discouraged on a daily baisis. Pictures like this one as the “attention grab” frustrate me beyond belief! Since when, do I as a personal trainer with 17 years in the personal training industry, and 7 years of competitive gymnastics before that, need to show excessive amounts of skin to make people pay attention to what I know?!

It’s sad to me that instead of taking time to earn the trust of people who choose to follow me and my journey, that people resort to shock value to make big promises, take people’s money and maybe help them and maybe leave them hanging!

Please take time to do your research, find out the training/education history of those you choose to work with, not just the number of followers a person has. As the Owner of Functionally Fit by Katie, I promise to continue my education, to learn more about health, fitness and nutrition as science changes and shows us new facts! If there is something I don’t know the answer to I will not feed you a line of bull, I will find out the answer and get it to you! I will be honest about who I am and work as hard as I can to get you the results you are looking for, and only ask that you show up as your best self, ready to do the same!

This was just before I had surgery on my “good knee” 6 months ago. I’ve lost a lot of ground, gained weight, and lost out on some goal opportunities. I was training for an Ironman (17 weeks into training) when I ended up with a complex root tear of my medial meniscus. I’m a few weeks away from getting clearance to run for the first time in 6 months… I’m going to be slow and may not get any faster. But I will get back to a body I am happier in, strength that makes me more confident and nutrition I can live with (I struggle most with nutrition). I’m far from perfect, I struggle to keep balance between all the things important to me. I’m never going to be perfect, but all I can do is keep progressing, and taking one step at a time! And that is all I can ask of my clients!

    1. That would be good Mac. As would a yoga flow or Pilates workout for runners to combat some tightness and also imbalances that can form from running programs! How is your strength work going?
