So many times we get lost in looking only at the end goal! Don’t get me wrong that is where we are headed, but that doesn’t mean it should be our only focus! When I first start working with a client who is new to lifting, they look at how much weight they are lifting and how hard it feels. I find myself watching their form, the ease of the motion, how much more familiar all of the motions appear. There are changes happening at the neuromuscular level that you never get to “see” if you aren’t looking for them. How cool is that?! Our body changing in ways and on levels we don’t even have to think about! Here I go again on my science geek tangent!

Take your goal break it down and start giving yourself credit for what you are doing right now to achieve that goal! Did you make lunch for the family and not snack on the kids Mac and cheese?! Did you get up 10 minutes before your kids so that you would be ready for the day when they got up and the morning was less rushed? Did you just kill a workout that you were hesitant to start in the first place?

So maybe the scale didn’t change this week but shift your focus for me… Focus on what you did this week to move toward your goals instead of always looking at what you didn’t do! Maybe; just maybe, you will change your head space to be more positive and start doing even more to achieve those goals!
